Andhra Pradesh targets Rs 30,000-crore investments in food processing, eyes 3 lakh jobs
Tuesday, 02 September, 2025, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Abhitash Singh, Mumbai
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to transform the state into a global food-processing hub, setting a target of Rs 30,000 crore in investments and three lakh new jobs under the newly announced AP Food Processing Policy 4.0.

Speaking at the India Food Manufacturing Summit in Visakhapatnam, Naidu said the state’s unique strengths in agriculture and aquaculture give it a natural edge. “Andhra Pradesh contributes 15.6% of India’s fruit production and nearly 32% of seafood exports. With our multi-climatic zones and rich crop diversity, we can become a world leader in food exports,” he said.

The state currently has 6,000 registered food-processing units, nine integrated food parks, 17 lakh MT of cold storage capacity, and 33 lakh tonnes of warehousing facilities. The Chief Minister assured investors of a single-window clearance system and promised special incentives for projects above Rs 200 crore.

Welcoming the announcement, Nilesh Lele, chairman of CASMB, said, "Andhra Pradesh has all the right ingredients – strong agri and aquaculture base, robust infrastructure, and now an investor-friendly policy. What is crucial is faster execution and capacity building for MSMEs so that benefits reach farmers and small processors too.”

Naidu said the initiative ties into the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, under which Andhra Pradesh aims to become a $2.4-trillion economy. Food processing, he said, will be a critical accelerator to achieve that goal.
