Amcor, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, has unveiled an industry-first 2oz retort bottle, developed in partnership with Insymmetry. Featuring StormPanel technology, this breakthrough packaging innovation offers superior durability, 12-month shelf stability, and enhanced product performance, catering to the growing demand for low-acid, shelf-stable nutritional beverages.
Designed to withstand the high-pressure retort sterilization process, the proprietary StormPanel bottle provides a scalable, cost-effective alternative to aseptic processing. Stellify, an Insymmetry brand, will be the first to leverage this technology with its Dulce de Leche Energy and Espresso Energy nootropic shots, debuting at Natural Products Expo West 2025.
"Our StormPanel innovation empowers brands to elevate their shelf-stable beverage offerings with a compact, high-performance solution," said Greg Rosati, vice president of strategy & marketing at Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP).
The StormPanel technology ensures structural integrity under extreme heat and pressure, preserving the bottle’s shape while offering a more efficient, cost-effective manufacturing process. This collaboration also leveraged finite element analysis (FEA) and virtual reality prototyping, enabling rapid development and commercialization.
"Amcor’s expertise allowed us to create a packaging solution that meets both industry and consumer demands for high-quality, preservative-free nutritional shots," said Josh Cua, chief innovations officer at Insymmetry.
As consumer demand for sustainable, shelf-stable packaging continues to grow, Amcor’s StormPanel retort bottle sets a new benchmark for innovation in the functional beverage segment.
