fiogf49gjkf0d A report by Ken Research, titled Consumer and Market Insights: Fish and Seafood in Egypt, analysed six categories and stated that the ambient fish and seafood segment promised the fastest growth potential at a compound annual growth rate of 4.8 per cent between 2015 and 2020.
“It is a highly disintegrated market. The dominant market share - about one-fifth of the country’s retail food sales - is captured by private labels like Siblou and Samak Sefood. The demand is soaring, as is shown by the high production and imports and almost negligible exports,” it added.
“The sales for rigid metal will be the fastest-growing packaging material in Egypt. In order to tap the market, the private labels are making efforts to penetrate the market and trickle down to the last layer of the consumer segment, capturing 37.2 per cent of the market,” the report stated.
The report covered value and volume analysis of the Egyptian fish and seafood market, detailed retail scenario and major distribution channels, packaging trend framework, segment definitions and analysis, average category-wise pricing and key players of the Egyptian food market.
