Vedanta Wake Up!, a chain of budget hotels, continues its expansion journey in South India. The hotel chain, headquartered in Mumbai, recently inaugurated multiple new properties in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The chain has charted an aggressive expansion strategy and is all set to expand its footprint pan-India.

To support this aggressive expansion plan, the hotel has announced the appointment of Ashish Bhatia as head of acquisitions. Bhatia, a graduate of IHM Aurangabad, was earlier with Taj and then headed acquisitions and operations at Galaxy Entertainment, a publicly traded subsidiary of Future Group.

"Ashish will lead the acquisition strategy of the company as we emerge from a phase of consolidation to entering a phase of expansion across multiple states. His experience of working at Taj and Future Group will be invaluable as we mature from being a startup to a profitable, high growth company," adds Rishabh Gupta, co-founder, Vedanta Wake Up!

The brand was conceptualised by Rishabh Gupta and Aadil Muscatwala in 2011 when it began operations in key cities in Kerala such as Fort Kochi, Thekkady, Kovalam, Varkala, Alleppey, Wayanad and Munnar. In a very short period of time they have been able to not only build an internationally-recognised brand but also a very profitable business. The footprint has now expanded to business and leisure destinations in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
