Sula Vineyards, a leading wine producer, to keep up with the demand and increase its wine grape production, has decided to offer New Raised Price for Harvest’16, which is going to be 10% higher than Harvest’15.

According to a press release issued by the company, the practice also tends to rewarding farmers with incentives for the yield that fits the parameters set by Sula. As per popularity of varieties, the company will pay Rs 35 to Rs 65 per kg with required brix that will give an opportunity to the farmers to earn 2.5 to 3.0 lakh per acre.

Given the constant growth and popularity of wine consumption, the company is also planning to extend its vineyards by 500 acre in coming year, increasing the number from 2,500 acre to approximately 3,000 acre.

Due to unpredictable weather changes in Nashik, table grapes farmers have been facing several challenges. However, unlike table grapes, wine grapes are not as affected by the unseasonal rains and constant changing weather. Hence, the company has invited farmers to grow more grape wines. Further, it sends experts to the farms every fortnight to help the farmer attain required quality of grapes and educate them.

The increase in wine consumption in India has given a boost to wine tourism. Every year, the company sees more than 200,000 people visiting the winery.
