Today, two decades later, chef Priya Jham has successfully forged her business venture, Kitchens by Priya Jham, to unbelievable heights.

She still cannot believe that she has attained what she has today. What started as a hobby is actually her business. And she definitely knows how to make a success of all that she tries her hand at.

Confessed Jham, “I was just another kid who loved experimenting with cooking. Little did I know that I would be managing a team and feeding an elite crowd some exotic meals. Kitchens by Priya Jham started with doing party meals for close family and friends who loved my cooking style. Word of mouth spread and the orders kept pouring in.”

She is technically not a trained chef, but has explored new avenues by upgrading her skills. “I took some short-term cooking sessions for making chocolates. I used my innovativeness, broke all the rules and my designer chocolates are in demand.”

Jham opined that one must learn a new technique which would add value to your existing skill. “The true success story is more pleasant when you impart your knowledge and help out budding talent finding the right way,” she added.

She also conducts regular cooking workshops for kids during their vacations. She added, “Children are very inquisitive, they are thrilled when they make their own dishes. Girls love to cook to get a pat on their backs from their dads. I have also had some single mothers who have learnt the advanced sessions and are now running their households with their new-found talent.”

“Food flavours always linger in people’s mind. They always love to try out new cuisines and yet go back to the flavours which wowed them,” Jham said, adding that the secret of her success was constant innovation, giving value for money and a taste that one would never get at home.

“My catering set-up provides services for private parties, corporate gatherings, in-house multi-national corporation (MNC) staff meals, and much more. If your client loves the taste, he would come back for more. But I believe you have to shock him with some better flavours the next time,” she added.

Having succeeded as a woman entrepreneur, Jham is content that she has the strong backing of her son Amit.

“He is an expert at baking. He conjures up the most delectable desserts. He is my backbone. Without his support it gets difficult to manage an elaborate meal for clients who expect nothing but the best,” she added.

As a closing note, Jham felt that an extended family support, especially from her husband goes the extra mile.

“I feel every husband should allow his wife to carve her own niche and live her dreams. Every woman has the hidden talent of juggling her house and her business. Just forge ahead and make sure 2015 is your year,” she added.

Super talented and inspiring for sure, Jham would be forging higher avenues in the coming future.
