InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management agreement with PT Ciputra Puri Trisula, part of PT Ciputra Property Tbk (one of Indonesia’s leading property developers), to develop an InterContinental hotel in Jakarta.

Located in Puri Kembangan (the central business district [CBD] of West Jakarta), the new development would comprise the 200-room InterContinental Jakarta West and 150-key InterContinental Jakarta West Residences.

The new InterContinental Jakarta West and InterContinental Jakarta West Residences would be a part of the 7.4-hectare Ciputra International complex owned, by PT Ciputra Puri Trisula (which would comprise ten high-rise towers).

InterContinental Jakarta West would be situated alongside six office buildings and three apartment blocks, linked by a lifestyle and retail section. The hotel would feature an all-day dining restaurant, a deli, a specialty restaurant and a lobby lounge.

It is located along the recently-completed Jakarta Outer Ring Road, a short distance from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, and provides quick access to core areas of the city.

Clarence Tan, senior vice-president, development, Asia, Middle-East and Africa (AMEA), IHG, said, “Indonesia has been a key growth market for IHG in recent years, and the country now holds our largest pipeline in South-East Asia.”

“There is still room for growth in the various cities across the country, and West Jakarta, as one of the fastest-growing districts in the city and the capital’s next CBD, is the ideal location to open our second InterContinental in Jakarta,” he added.

“We are delighted to be working with PT Ciputra Puri Trisula to launch InterContinental Jakarta West, and are confident the hotel and serviced apartments would be a huge draw to guests travelling to Jakarta for both business and leisure,” Tan said.

Commenting on the partnership, Artadinata Djangkar, director, Ciputra Group, said, “West Jakarta is rapidly developing as a commercial hub. With two convention centres and other mega complex developments coming up over the next few years, we anticipate that the area would become a preferred destination for meetings and events in Jakarta.”

“This is a great time for us to be developing InterContinental Jakarta West. We foresee the strategic location and strong design element of the hotel and residences to be a huge draw to people travelling to West Jakarta. We are also very pleased to be working with IHG, and look forward to opening the hotel in the years to come,” he added.

IHG currently has 13 properties across four brands in Indonesia (InterContinental; Crowne Plaza; Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express). There are currently two InterContinental hotels in Indonesia - InterContinental Jakarta Midplaza and InterContinental Bali.

InterContinental Jakarta West is among the 29 properties slated to open in Indonesia over the next three to five years. There are four InterContinental hotels and resorts in the pipeline, including InterContinental Dago Pakar and InterContinental Bali Canggu Resort.
