6th essay of Foodex kicks off in Bengaluru; 29 countries participating

fiogf49gjkf0d India Foodex 2014, a leading international show on food products, processing & packaging machineries and allied industries, kicked off at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) here on Friday.
In its sixth edition this year, the three-day event, which will conclude on August 24, 2014, will showcase the latest products and technology in the food processing and packaging sectors. The event will seek to focus on potential sectors such as canning, refrigeration, poultry, ready-to-eat products and high protein products. Over 29 countries are participating in the event putting around 345 stalls.
“5th edition India Foodex 2013 attracted participation from 26 countries and received tremendous support from all quarters. Encouraged by overwhelming response, we are confident that the 6th edition is going to make a big difference in Indian food industry and create business opportunities for big, medium and small business houses in India and abroad. We have participation from over 29 countries and a large number of traders to make the show more versatile in terms of growth of food sector which would create large-scale skill development,”stated S Jafar Naqvi, chief coordinator, India Foodex.
Prominent members of the government, namely S S Nayyar, GM, APEDA, ministry of commerce; Subodh Yadav, commissioner, agriculture, Government of Karnataka; Wouter Verhy, agriculture councillor, Holland; Sanjeev Chopra, joint secretary & mission director of MIDH; were present at the inaugural. The keynote address was by Pawanexh Kohli, CEO & chief advisor, National Centre for Cold Chain Development, ministry of agriculture.
Foodex 2014 will concurrently hold 5th GrainTech India 2014, which will focus on grains, cereals, spices, oilseeds, feeds, products & technologies; 6th AgriTech India 2014 - agriculture machinery, inputs, technologies and allied sectors; DairyTech India - dairy products and animal farming equipment; Poultry & Livestock Expo; and MeatTech Asia 2014 with a focus to upgrade and organise domestic supply chain and processing & packaging.
Established food brands that are readily available in Indian markets like American Garden; Unilever food products from USA; Agnesi Pasta from Italy; Dana regular & sugar-free jam & butter cookies from Denmark; Kikkoman sauces from Japan; Olicoop Spanish olives; Italian olive oil; Ong's oriental food & sauces from Singapore/China; beverages from UK; chocolates & confectionery from Germany; butter toffees from Argentina; salad dressings, mayonnaise & mustered oil from Holland; canned seafood & vegetables from Australia; sparkling grape juice from France; baby accessories from Taiwan; variety of mushrooms; Mexican food; Turkish delights; and Thai products; were on display.
