fiogf49gjkf0d Greendot Health Foods Ltd, maker of nacho crisp brand Cornitos, plans to double its production capacity. This was stated by Vikram Agarwal, the company’s founder and director.
“Our sales has already reached 90 per cent of our production capacity. We are also expanding the market by foraying into the Tier-2 and 3 cities of India, and are focussing on the suburban areas of big cities, whose residents’ disposable incomes are increasing.” he added. Agarwal, who stated that the company, achieved a turnover of Rs 25 crore this year, added that the company launched an introductory-level pack for small cities, priced at Rs 15.
He added, “Cornitos Nacho Crisps are 100 per cent corn-based, and contain 40 per cent less oil than other snacks available in the market.”
“The focus on health makes Cornitos different from other chips. It has a longer shelf life, is gluten-free, and contains zero cholesterol. These make it a healthier snacking option for the Indian consumer,” Agarwal informed.
It has been five years since Cornitos’ inception. “We launched the product in India after undertaking research and development (R&D) for two years, and the response from Indian consumers was good,” he added.
“Corn crisps didn’t just taste good, but they were also good for health. The journey wasn’t smooth, although we were encouraged to explore further. We have now grown to a pan-India level,” stated Agarwal.
He informed that Cornitos accounted for approximately 80 per cent of the nacho crisp market in India, which was estimated to be worth Rs 30-35 crore. The Indian snack food market, which comprises a number of chip brands, is worth Rs 3,000 crore.
