On May 9, RAI to organise workshop on Legal Metrology Act in Bengaluru

fiogf49gjkf0d The Retailers Association of India (RAI) would organise a workshop on the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, at Hotel Grand Magrath on Bengaluru’s Magrath Road on May 9, 2014.
It would be addressed by R Mathurbootham, who is well-versed with the nuances of the Act and the various Rules relating to weights and measures, including the Packaged Commodities Rules.
He was instrumental in framing the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, which was passed by Parliament in December 2009. He retired as director, Legal Metrology Department, in February 2010. He was appointed as advisor in legal metrology by the government of India with effect from May 1, 2010.
The workshop would be a platform to eliminate the hardships faced by retailers in complying with the Act and the Packaged Commodities Rules, as it would facilitate discussions between the retailers and the policy-makers.
