Centre appoints 15 members for 3-year-terms under FSSA's Sections 5, 7

fiogf49gjkf0d Exercising the powers conferred upon it by Sections 5 and 7 of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, appointed 15 members (other than ex-officio members) in the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for three-year-terms that commence on the date they enter office or until the age of 62 years or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
The duo appointed under Clause (b) of Sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the Act is Shreya Pandey of the All India Food Processors' Association (AIFPA), New Delhi, and Meetu Kapur of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), New Delhi.
Thanglura of the Mizoram Consumers' Union in Aizawl, the capital of the north-eastern state, and Vasudev K Thakkar, president, V Care Right and Duty [a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Vadodara, Gujarat], were appointed under Clause (c) of Sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the Act.
A K Srivastava, director, National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Karnal, Haryana; Lalitha Ramakrishna Gowda, chief scientist, Department of Protein Chemistry, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Mysore, Karnataka, and Gurudayal Singh Toteja, scientist F (deputy director general), Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, were appointed under Clause (d) of Sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the Act.
Representatives of the governments of the states of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh were appointed under Clause (e) of Sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the Act.
V Balasubramaniam, general secretary, Prawn Farmer Federation of India, Bangalore, was reappointed under Clause (f) of Sub-section (1) of the Section 5 of the Act, while Abulkalam of Madina Munavara Coffee Estate, Chikmagalur, Karnataka, was appointed under the same clause. A R Sharma, chairman and managing director, Ricela Health Foods Ltd, Manwala, Dhuri, Sangrur, Punjab, was appointed under Clause (g) of Sub-section (1) of the Section 5 of the Act.
