The event is set to cover all important aspects of the food industry ranging from food ingredients to machines and equipment. It will also serve as an exceptional networking platform for all the major players in the industry.

The participants will include companies from sectors such as food chemicals, packaging machines & technology, food safety, bank & finance, R&D, dairy, equipment & technology, food & beverage industry, food service industries, and bakery equipment.

Speaking to FnB News, Zakir Hussain, general manager, N K Kapur & Company (Pvt) Ltd, said, “The motive behind organising FoodTech India is to promote food processing industry, bakery and confectionery and food service industry.”

He added, “We want to promote lot of food technology projects in Bengal, and to give knowledge to people who wish to enter this industry and provide assistance to entrepreneurs to develop their business with latest technology and equipments.”

The show will also see the hosting of Bakery & Hotel Tech 2011. Hussain explained, “We will have seminars organised by West Bengal Bakery Association; all members of the association will attend the seminar and the exhibition. East India Culinary Association is organising competition and get-together for hotel exhibition.”

Last year, the show saw 93 exhibitors, this year it expects more participants and around 25-30,000 visitors. No international players are participating directly, but their Indian representatives will display their products at the event.

According to Hussain, India’s food technology market is shooting up every year, we expect more investments from government and private players.

On a concluding note, he pointed out, “There are lot of new technologies coming up like processing, packaging and food services. Industry players should also tap smaller towns where the presence is very low.”
