Manjushree Naik, Mumbai

Dirty Potato, a leading natural snacks manufacturer from USA, has plans to enter the Indian market in the big way.

The company will market its products under Max Foods in India. The product line includes jalapeño heat, cracked pepper, sea salt, and vinegar. It will be available at select outlets across India beginning with NCR.

Amit Lohani, MD, Max Foods India Pvt. Ltd, told FnB News, "The Indian FMCG sector with a market size of $13.1 billion is the fourth largest sector in the world and is expected to grow in multiples in near future. The shift in the consumer behaviour towards all-natural snacks will give a solid boost for our product acceptance. We foresee immense possibilities for growth here, and if we are able to give our consumers value for money, we are sure of higher growth in future."

He added, "Delhi and NCR is the hub of food aficionados and we are confident that this new range of kettle style potato chips by Max Foods will be able to carve out a niche amongst them. Moreover, accessibility and affordability would help these products gain significant market share within a reasonable timeframe. Currently we want to focus on our customer connect, but going forward our customers in Delhi & NCR can expect several more, new exciting products from us.”

According to him, the product is all-natural, cholesterol-free, kettle cooked in a peanut oil blend, and kosher certified. He claims, “The product does not contain MSG, artificial flavours and colours, preservatives, trans fat, artificial sweeteners and wheat gluten.”

He explains on a concluding note, “The name Dirty comes from the process that is used to prepare the chips. The potato slices are not washed of their natural juices leaving more of the natural potato flavour. And they are crafted one batch at a time.”
