The Taj Falaknuma, palace of the Seventh Nizam, Mehboob Ali Khan, which has now been restored into a luxury hotel, will become operational for guests on November 13.

Mukarram Jah Bahadur, the great grandson of the Seventh Nizam of Hyderabad Mehboob Ali Khan, and chairman of Tata Group Ratan Tata would be among the guests at the inauguration of the Falaknuma, which means mirror image of the sky.

"Extensive restoration was carried out under the guidance of Princess Esra Jah, the grand daughter-in-law of the last Nizam, to bring the palace back to its original magnificence. We worked on preserving the priceless art and artefacts of the palace for 10 years," General Manager, Taj Falaknuma Palace, Ranjit Phillipose, told reporters.

The ornate inlaid furniture, the finest collection of Jade, the rich handcrafted tapestries and brocades from France, and intricate frescos with English as well as Indian influences, together give the Palace its distinct Baroque style, he said.

"Taj Falaknuma Palace, an architectural gem nestled amidst verdant and unique themed gardens, offers a choice of 60 tastefully done-up exquisite rooms, complete with LCD TV sets, and suites including a Grand Presidential Suite, two restaurants (Celeste-serves Italian & Mediterranean cuisine & Adaa - Indian fine dining), an outdoor pool and the signature Jiva Spa spread across 32 acres of manicured gardens," Managing Director & CEO, Indian Hotels Company Limited, Raymond Bickson said in a release.

These resplendent suites, which were once the private chambers of the Nizam, royal family and state guests, are beautifully detailed and are complete with every modern comfort, from state-of-the-art amenities to a personal butler, he said.

The luxurious suites of the hotel range between Rs 30,000 and Rs 5 lakh per night. "It has been lovingly restored and enhanced and so effortlessly fuses the old with the new and tradition with modernity to create a state-of-the-art luxury hotel," he said.

Ranjit Philipose said, “We are pleased to welcome guests to the property, restored, renewed, and reinstated to its former glory. Guests can live enchanted moments of luxury while experiencing and reliving chapters from the lives of the Nizams.

The royal property located in the bustling Old City of Hyderabad sits atop a hill with manicured gardens. Artefacts such as the 101-seat royal dining table, the writing table used by the Nizam and the famous Jocobian diamond used as paper weight and a custom-designed musical orchesterone, said to be among the only four such in the world, are on display.

A buggy will take the guests around the 32-acre palace premises and greeted with a shower of petals. Every moment of the experience from the time one enters the palace enthrals the visitor.
