PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt Ltd chief executive officer D Shivkumar has resigned, and will leave the company on December 31, 2017. He will be succeeded by Ahmed El Sheikh, senior vice-president and general manager, PepsiCo Egypt and Jordan, who will assume office on November 1.
Shivakumar will join Aditya Birla Group as president, corporate strategy and business development.
“He has been with the food and beverage major for the past four years and has been instrumental in leading the transformation journey for the company,” said Sanjeev Chadha, chief executive officer, Africa, the Middle-East and North Africa (AMENA) sector, PepsiCo.
“Notably, Shivakumar has been a key driver for portfolio transformation and helped develop our nutrition business, launching winning innovations with our Quaker and Tropicana brands,” he added.
“Under his leadership, we also deepened consumer engagement with our flagship brands. We thank him for his commitment to the company and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” Chadha said.
“El Sheikh comes with an impressive depth and breadth of experience in high-profile PepsiCo markets, and has held leadership roles in both our foods and beverages businesses,” he added.
“In his last role, he led the Egypt business, one of our most successful, through very tough macro-economic and geo-political challenges,” Chadha said.
“I am confident that El Sheikh, together with our winning India leadership team, will prove to be a very powerful combination for the future success of PepsiCo India,” he added.
