fiogf49gjkf0d The Indian Olive Association (IOA), the apex body of olive and olive oil producers, growers, distributors, importers, users and consumers, reelected Rajneesh Bhasin, managing director, Borges India Pvt Ltd, as its president for 2017-18, recognising his efforts and contribution in establishing the olive oil and olive oil-related categories in India.
This is Bhasin’s second term as president. In his first term as IOA president, the association was instrumental in growing the olive oil and olive-related categories through a strategic approach involving elevated user incursion, providing products matched with global standards in an ecosystem which aims at safeguarding the stakeholders’ interests.
He said, “I am extremely honoured and humbled to become the president of the association for the second time in a row. I am grateful to the members who have reposed trust in my capabilities and consider that with my efforts we can take create a category of olive oil in India. Last year, olive oil sales in India stood at 12,000 tonnes. I am sure that with the concerted and strategised efforts, the category will see a remarkable growth this year.”
“The association itself formed a standardised set of norms about the category so that the dissemination of the facts is the same. It not only seeks support from the importers, but also seeks to have on board the exporting nations like Spain, Italy and Tunisia for the category to grow and the propagation of olive oil and its related category. Among its various aims, the association has successfully reinforced the grades and nomenclatures related to the category, hence educating the target groups about olive oil,” added Bhasin.
