NOC for imported alcoholic beverage valid for 300 days: FSSAI
Friday, 25 February, 2022, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Ashwani Maindola, New Delhi
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has stated that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for imported alcoholic beverage with 10 per cent alcohol shall be valid for 300 days. The order will be applicable on alcoholic beverages bottled in origin and in bulk.

According to the direction, regarding extension of validity of NOC for alcoholic beverages bottled in origin and in bulk, FSSAI says that  it has been decided that for imported consignments of alcoholic beverages bottled and in bulk containing more than 10 per cent alcohol which does not have an expiry date, the NOC issued as per the FSS Import Regulations 2017, shall have a validity of 300 days.

According to the import regulations, the customs shall not clear any article of food unless it has a valid shelf life of not less than 60 per cent or three months before expiry whichever is less at the time of import.

Also, “for consignment lying at ports/customs area beyond 300 days, on payment of visual inspection fee, visual inspection may be carried out for ‘re-validation’ of NOC,” read the direction.

The applicability of the direction shall be until further order in this regard. FSSAI added that the decision was taken to facilitate the ease of doing business reforms.
