Louvre Hotels Group launches Kyriad in Mumbai; Expansion plans afoot
Saturday, 22 September, 2018, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Khyati Das, Mumbai
Louvre Hotels Group, the world’s fifth largest international hotel group, launched its brand Kyriad in Mumbai recently. The launch was a part of the group’s ambitious plan to expand throughout the entire Indian sub-continent.

“With 50 years’ experience down the line in the hospitality industry and to build on its extensive Indian presence is our further goal,” said Saurabh Chawla, global chief development officer, Louvre Hotels Group. He added that the group was consolidating its leadership in the heart of a rapidly-growing market and is a major source of leisure and business tourists.

Louvre Hotels Group aims to fulfil a target of 15 hotels by 2019. Kyriad marks its presence across eight locations in India, namely Goa, Chennai, Kumbakonam, Kolhapur, Vijayapura, Amba Ghat, Pune, Hubli and Bengaluru.

The top brands of Louvre Hotels Group include Royal Tulip, Golden Tulip, Sarovar and Tulip Inn. While marking their presence across worldwide and holding a rank in the highest number of rooms along with the acquisition, in January 2017, of the Sarovar Hotels and Resorts chain, it has broadened the network of Golden Tulip, Tulip Inn and Royal Tulip brands and now has 126 hotels.

Chawla thanked Orange Tiger Hospitality Private Limited (OTHPL) for the culmination of the effort to blend like-minded professionals from the hospitality industry. With a combined experience of over 100 years, the OTHPL team focuses on operational efficiencies, balanced sales contributions and increasing profits.

OTHPL specialises in managing hotels and affluent clubs. With eight Kyriad Hotels already operating and another 10 in the project stage, it is sure to create its own space in the ever-growing Indian hospitality market.

OTHPL, as per the recent agreement made with them under brand name Kyriad, currently manages all Citrus Hotels in the sub-continent. The group will continue its expansion and thereby introduce the brand Kyriad.

Louvre Hotels Group already operates 2,600 hotels worldwide, including 1,220 in China, where it recently introduced the Kyriad brand. The Group aims to open 20 new hotels in China under this brand in 2018.

Speaking about the agreement, Chawla stated, “Under the terms of the agreement with the Indian operator OTHPL, as of 2018, Orange Tiger will be operating eight hotels under brand Kyriad by mid–October and 15 by the end of this financial year. And at least 10 new hotels will open every year.”

The scope of the agreement is not just limited to India. It encompasses opportunities for development in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Pakistan and Mauritius.

Therefore, this partnership will provide Louvre Hotels Group, in addition to its strong presence in China, with a new mainstay to continue its expansion in South Asia. Its booming economy, high tourist potential and the increasing number of hotel visitors all combine to make India, with its population of over 1.2 billion people, an excellent opportunity and strategic market for the Group.

“Our goal is to become one of the top hospitality groups by 2023. This calls for a strategic approach to countries with high growth potential such as India, where we introduce new brands that complement our existing presence and as always are tailored to address the needs of domestic and international, business and leisure travellers,” said Chawla.

“The demand for mid-scale full service hotels is ever growing in India, and over the past few years, the liking for an International brand is on an upswing. With our expertise of managing the hotel operations as well as revenues, we are sure to take brand Kyriad to newer heights in South Asia. Kyriad is the perfect answer to both business and leisure travellers seeking quality accommodation at affordable prices,” said Abhijeet Shrivastava, chief executive officer, Orange Tiger Hospitality.
