India’s MSMEs should invest in Tanzanian’s food sector, suggests Kombo: 13.00 PM

Indian micro-, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) should explore opportunities for value addition in the Tanzanian food processing industry. This was stated by Mahmoud Kombo, minister for information, culture and tourism, Government of Zanzibar, Tanzania, at an interactive session on exchange of culture and tourism, held at Mumbai’s World Trade Centre recently. The session was organised by the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) in association with World Trade Centre.
Besides food processing, the minister highlighted four key areas for collaboration between the two nations. These were hospitality, packaging, healthcare and tourism. Inviting Indian companies to invest in convention centres, hotels, resorts and shopping malls, he assured Indian investors on single-window clearance, ease of land acquisition and other business support and incentives for investing in the African nation.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between MVIRDC World Trade Centre, Mumbai, AIAI and Zanzibar Commission for Tourism, Tanzania, to promote culture and tourism.
Other dignitaries present at the session were Jilesh Mimat Babla, director, Zanzibar Tourism Promotion Centre, India; Sabah Saleh Nassor, Zanzibar Commission for Tourism, Tanzania, Vijay Kalantri, chairman, World Trade Centre, Mumbai, and other representatives from trade and industry.
