Denominated as the biggest international food festival in the country, Gold Rush’s World On A Plate is back with double enthusiasm to instigate their sixth season after five successful seasons. The ‘World Hunger Warrior’ campaign will be launched digitally wherein WOAP will be directing all their proceedings to create a hunger-free world through this cause. This five-day campaign is to set in motion from August 5-9, 2020, and will be streaming live on WOAP’s website with 25 hours of programming.
WOAP Season 6 also showcases over 25 celebrity chef masterclasses, 35 food pop-ups by exceptional restaurants that will be available on Swiggy as a part of a special collection.
The event will be headlined by prominent celebrity chefs like Ranveer Brar, Manish Mehrotra (Indian Accent), Rakhee Vaswani (TV Chef and Owner of Palate Culinary Academy), Vicky Ratnani (Culinary Director of Everstone Capital), Sebastian Simon (Lavasalt Melbourne), Abhijith Saha (Capeberry), Vikas Seth (Sanchez), Saransh Goila (Goila Butter Chicken), Ajay Chopra (Masterchef India), popular Mexican Chef Colibrí Jiménez and Masterchef Australia's Simon Toohey. These culinary superstars will shed light on exploratory cuisines, teach gourmet food pairings and tell some amazing food stories through their food via live masterclasses.
This bandwagon will also feature chefs from the top restaurants of India and abroad, Paul Kinny (St Regis India), Sachin Wilfred (Lavonne Academy), and Nishant Chaubey (Indus Bangkok) to name a few. As this campaign is a platform for home-chefs to put their creative foot forward, DIY (do it yourself) kits with the ingredients will be delivered beforehand to curate seamless in-home experiences for attendees.
Each partnered restaurant supporting WOAP with the cause will pledge to provide a minimum of 50 pre-packed nutritious meals each day for the hungry. It will be collected and added to the distribution done by the foundation or the restaurants could distribute it themselves. Four signature dishes from each restaurant to be curated for the cause. Dishes will be ordered by consumers through food delivery partners.
In addition to this, WOAP will devise a combination of soup kitchens, crowdsource the food chain and create community programmes, donating meals that are excess from partner restaurants; led by the foot soldiers of World Hunger Warrior (WHW) with the sole purpose of creating a hunger-free world.
The event will also feature conversations from industry experts like restaurateur AD Singh, author Anoothi Vishal, Kapila Chandra, Rupali Dean, Manish Mehtrotra and many more during the course of these five days on WOAP’s Instagram live.
Kiran Soans, CEO, Gold Rush Entertainment, said, “It's exciting to be back. Talking to the audiences of World on a Plate, 5 years we have built some unbelievable experiences and of course Covid is unprecedented and the whole industry is fighting it out together. I'm sure that we are going to come out strong. We wanted to add some cheer to thousands of consumers who have been sending us requests and waiting to hear from us. So we thought we should do WOAP online, and It's nothing better than taking the whole experience digital. People from home will be able to experience the chefs from India and around the world, we are trying to bring the experience back to the audience and i am sure it will be something that no other online platform has done before. The reason we wanted to keep this free is the chefs from our country and a few from around the world are really excited for this version because it is connected to a cause, it is for charity.”
“This time WOAP is from the most discerning to the most deserving and we can't wait to kick start this edition. I have personally been on the ground for World Hunger Warriors since the last 90 days from the time Covid hit our world, and along with WHW we have served about half a million meals and now we are about to open the first soup kitchen which will provide free food to all the needy who walk up to us. All the chefs are being very gracious to come and be a part of this wonderful initiative. Inspired by Langars around our country, WHW will collectively channelise efforts and even if it achieves 10 per cent of what langars have been doing, we will be grateful to have some contribution at such an hour of need,” added Spans.
World on A Plate Season 6, will also center-stage the winner home chefs and their cooking videos will be featured on WOAP’s website. The winners will also get an exclusive opportunity for one-on-one interaction with top celebrity chefs via the live conducted from WOAP’s Instagram handle.
