FoodTech Kerala - Must-not-miss event for all stakeholders
Tuesday, 13 May, 2025, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Abhitash Singh, Mumbai
FoodTech Kerala, the state’s flagship event for the food processing and packaging sectors, is returning for its 16th edition from May 22-24, 2025, at Cochin. Over the years, this 3-day trade show has become a critical B2B interface for manufacturers of food processing machinery, packaging equipment, and suppliers of ingredients and flavours catering to both small-scale and large-scale food processing units across Kerala.

This year’s edition promises to be the most dynamic and inclusive yet, with more than 200 exhibitors from across India showcasing their products, solutions, and innovations to an anticipated crowd of thousands of industry professionals. According to the event organisers, FoodTech Kerala 2025 is a ‘must-not-miss’ event for all stakeholders in the food processing and packaging ecosystem.

Adding more value to the event, HotelTech Kerala 2025 will run concurrently, offering synergy between the food and hospitality sectors. Supported by leading state agencies and industry bodies such as the Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-BIP), NABARD, NSIC, CIFT, and Norka-Roots, the dual events will create a one-stop platform for technology, innovation, and partnership.

Key Highlight – PMPFE Scheme Pavilion
One of the most anticipated highlights of FoodTech Kerala 2025 will be the special PMPFE (Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) Scheme Pavilion. The pavilion will host 100 dedicated stalls featuring Kerala-based food processing units that have benefited under the scheme. This segment will allow visitors to explore grassroots innovations and homegrown enterprises that are shaping Kerala’s food processing landscape.

The event is especially significant given the steady growth of small-scale food businesses, home bakers, and regional food brands in the state over the past two years. From value-added spice products to ready-to-eat meals and seafood innovations, Kerala has witnessed a diversification in food manufacturing, with more than 55,000 individuals employed across food processing units in key districts.

Strong Growth in Food Processing Sector
Kerala’s food processing industry has evolved into a crucial contributor to the state’s economy, generating substantial output, value addition, and employment opportunities. The product range is equally diverse, covering segments such as spices, fish and meat, oils and extracts, and packaged consumer foods. The strong industrial base, along with governmental support and a growing consumer market, is attracting new entrepreneurs—including a rising number of NRI returnees—interested in investing in food processing ventures.

HotelTech Kerala: Focusing on HoReCa

HotelTech Kerala, running parallel to FoodTech Kerala, will cater specifically to the HoREeCa (Hotels, Restaurants, Catering) industry. With more than 200 exhibitors expected, the event will feature cutting-edge hotel equipment, commercial kitchen appliances, linens, furnishings, tableware, hotelware, hospitality technologies, waste management systems, and more.

Endorsed by Kerala Tourism, the Association of Approved Hotel Associations of Kerala, Kerala Professional Housekeepers Association, the HPMF Kerala Chapter, and the Chief Engineers Forum, HotelTech Kerala 2025 promises to offer unmatched networking and business opportunities for hospitality professionals.

Exclusive Highlights – The Show
Among the key attractions at HotelTech Kerala will be the GM Conclave & Purchase Managers Meet, scheduled on Day 2 of the expo. This closed-door event will be the highlight of the hospitality segment, bringing together general managers and purchase managers from leading hotels and resorts across the state to discuss current industry challenges, emerging opportunities, and collaborative growth strategies.

Pune Gas is the Gold Sponsor of the GM Conclave & Purchase Managers Meet 2025, lending further industry gravitas to the proceedings. The conclave will be complemented by other exciting networking events like the Chefs Meet and Housekeepers Meet, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and dialogue among operational professionals from the hospitality sector.

The conclave is supported by prominent trade bodies such as the HPMF-Kerala Chapter and the Kerala Professional Housekeepers’ Association (KPHA). All housekeeping staff from hotels and resorts across the state have been invited to take part in these specialised meets.

The expo will be officially inaugurated by P. Rajeev, Minister for Industries & Coir, Government of Kerala, on May 22 at 10:30 AM, in the presence of other dignitaries, industry leaders, and senior government officials.

Day 1 of FoodTech Kerala 2025 will feature a series of technical sessions focused on value addition in the food processing sector, particularly highlighting advanced packaging technologies. A key session will spotlight packaging trends with a focus on metal cans for fish processing, a critical industry in Kerala’s coastal economy.

Notably, Stolle Machinery, USA, will make its debut at the expo by delivering a technical presentation on “Food Cans and Ends” – marking their first technical session in India. This global leader in can-making technology will showcase how their equipment and solutions are contributing to improved shelf life, product safety, and sustainable packaging in the food industry.

FoodTech Kerala & HotelTech Kerala are being organised by Cruz Expos, a Kochi-based professional B2B event organiser. Over the past 15 years, Cruz Expos has carved a niche for itself in South India’s exhibition landscape, consistently delivering high-quality expos across key industries. Their flagship events, including the HotelTech & FoodTech Kerala series, have become central to the growth and evolution of Kerala’s food and hospitality sectors.

In a rapidly evolving industry landscape, FoodTech Kerala and HotelTech Kerala 2025 are expected to serve as catalysts for innovation, investment, and collaboration. Whether you are a food manufacturer, a hotelier, an aspiring entrepreneur, or a supplier, these co-located expos offer a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders, discover new technologies, and tap into Kerala’s vibrant and expanding food economy.
