OILS AND FATS

Approx 1,35,474 tons of oilmeal exported in April ’17; Exports up by 19%
Tuesday, 09 May, 2017, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Our Bureau, Mumbai
According to the oilmeal export data compiled by the Solvent Extractors’ Association (SEA) of India for the month of April 2017, approximately 1,35,474 tons of oilmeals were exported, vis-a-vis 1,13,978 tons exported in April 2016. This showed an increase of 19 per cent.

The competitiveness of Indian soybean meal in international market has further reduced, resulting in the slowing down of shipments from India. This also affected the crushing. The recent increase in Indian soy oil imports is also exerting pressure on domestic soy oil prices, which together with  soybean sales, is squeezing crush margins.
