The 2017 edition of the annual seafood festival at The Orchid’s South of Vindhyas is underway. It will conclude on January 29. The a la carte or sit-down buffet lunch will be on offer between noon and 3pm, while dinner will be served between 7pm and midnight. The price of the buffet starts at Rs 1,300 (plus taxes).
Patrons can choose from over 30 types of fish, which will either be grilled, fried or in the form of a curry. The preparations, by Chef Bala, will represent the coastal parts of the four South Indian states (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu).
Indian salmon, king fish, curry meen, squid, clams and crabs will be some of the delicacies on the menu, which will comprise some dishes from Maharashtra, including Malvani Fish Curry (a king fish curry cooked in a red gravy, a dish from Malvan) and Talela Surmai (deep-fried king fish in red hot spices).
The menu will also include Raal Perattal (prawns simmered in pepper gravy, a Chettinad specialty); Eral Pandy (fried prawns, a Puducherry speciality); Alleppey Meen Curry (king fish, a specialty of Alleppey, Kerala); Meen Ghassi (pomfret cooked in a thick gravy comprising coconut and Mangalorean spices), Chapala Kura (king fish, a specialty of Andhra Pradesh) and Bangude Puli Munchi (a tangy Mangalorean mackerel curry).
