Macao’s Jade Dragon, Wing Lei Palace in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants ’19

Two restaurants based in Macao, Jade Dragon and Wing Lei Palace, were included in the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019, which was unveiled at Wynn Palace in the region recently.
The number of restaurants in Macao that made it to the list, which fully displayed the multicultural and multinational talent of the dining industry in Asia, was one more than last year.
Top chefs and restaurateurs from across Asiagathered in Macao to witness the announcement of theannual ranking of the 50 most influential restaurants in Asia.
The ceremony, organised with the support of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), took place in Macaofor the second consecutive year, and was a part of its efforts to promote the region as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
Alexis Tam, secretary, social affairs and culture, Government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), was among the guests of honour at the event, that saw theAsia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 countdown. Singapore’s Odette, led by chef Julien Royer, was crowned The Best Restaurant in Asia 2019.
The evening also saw the presentation of a number of individual country awards selected among those ranked on the list.
Tam gave the award to the Best Restaurant in Thailand, Gaggan, which was also number two on the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019.
Nine other individual awards were also presented at the event. These were in such categoriesas Sustainable Restaurant Award, Asia’s Best Pastry Chef, Miele One to Watch Award, among others.
