On November 19, 2017, AccorHotels will commemorate its 50th anniversary by honouring everyday heroes – men and women, including social workers, volunteers, firefighters, nurses and teachers – who work each day to serve their communities, by inviting them to over 2,000 properties around the world, including 500-plus hotels in Asia Pacific and 53 in India.
This global event will be an opportunity for the group, and its 2,50,000-plus employees to thank the people who are committed to serving their communities by sharing a moment with them around a breakfast, a barbecue or a concert, or even by inviting them to stay overnight as the hotel chain’s guests.
In India, a Lunch of Honour will be organised at various hotels for the group’s selected unsung heroes. Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, AccorHotels’ beachfront property amidst Juhu Beach, will be honouring Bunty Rao, a volunteer lifeguard at the beach.
He has gallantly saved about 50 lives over the last 17 years. To recognise his dedication and sense of responsibility towards humanity, the hotel will felicitate him for his contribution to the society and host a special lunch for him.
Manish Dayya, general manager, Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, said, “On its 50th anniversary, this initiative of AccorHotels is a great way to recognise the real heroes of our society and set examples of humanity. Rao’s bravery deserves to be acknowledged, along with many others, whose significant contributions go unnoticed.”
This will also be an opportunity for the hotel chain’s staff to showcase their establishments, which are deeply rooted in the life of their neighbourhoods, and to encourage the residents to go through their doors more often, without having to book rooms.
