APIS India adds premium dates to product line, highlights health benefits

APIS India, the leading producer, distributor and exporter of quality honey, has now added three new variants of dates to its portfolio. The new varieties include APIS Arabian Pearls, Royal Zahidi APIS and APIS Jannat Dates.

The select dates [premium dates from the United Arab Emirates (UAE)] are available in 500g and 250g and the Jannat dates (Berni dates) are available in 500g packs, respectively.

These will be available at prominent retail outlets, like D-Mart, Spencer’s and ABRL, and online grocery stores like Grofers, Flipkart, Amazon, etc. With the introduction of these new variants of dates, the brand is strengthening its presence in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) category.

Dates are a good source of energy, sugar and fibre. Also, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium and zinc are the essential minerals that can be found in them.

With Ramadan between May 15 and June 14 this year, APIS highlighted that dates are a must-have on every Iftar table. During the period of Ramzan, the fasting lasts from sunrise to sunset.

The company highlighted the importance of dates during Ramzan, stating that due to the day-long fast, the body can suffer from low blood sugar, lethargy and headaches.

To avoid such issues, health experts suggest that one should break the fast by eating a few dates first. The carbohydrates found in them makes it easy to digest, as they do not upset the stomach of a fasting person and are much better than fried and fatty foods.

Dates relieve a person from constipation and add the much-needed fibre content to the diet. Dates are very rich with natural sugary energy, which is a best nutrient for the brain cells and nerves.

The Delhi-based APIS India Ltd is one of the few companies which has been certified with ISO-22000 for documented procedure that applies to food safety framed by the international body for honey.

They are one of the largest exporters of honey from India, sells over 80 per cent of its annual production of about 12,000 tonne of honey to the United States, North Africa, Latin America, the Middle-East, etc.

The company is one of the pioneers in exporting high quality honey from the country.

Since 1982, the company has also been offering a specialised honey range, which comprises ginger, lemon, organic, Himalaya honey, honey with nuts and honey with comb.

Considering the changing purchase dynamics and the growing need of the quality branded packaged products, the company has also forayed into tea, preserves, jam, dates and pickles.

The products have been benchmarked to meet all European Union (EU) and other international standards. It also recently bagged the award as the Promising Brand of the Year at the 2018 Economic Times Promising Brands Summit.
