The ministry of food processing industries (MoFPI) has extended the deadline for the submission of expressions of interest (EOIs)/proposals for financial assistance under the scheme of creation of backward and forward linkages for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojna (PMKSY) to 5pm on August 31, 2018. The ministry has, in this regard, issued a notice.
The earlier deadline for submitting the EoIs was April 30, 2018. A total of 50 projects slots were open for bidding. According to sources, MoFPI didn’t get the desired numbers of applicants for the projects. Therefore, the date was extended to give more time to the investors to apply. The proposals can be submitted via the online portal. The terms of reference and other conditions will remain unchanged.
Earlier this year, MoFPI issued a notice inviting EoIs from potential promoters for two schemes under PMKSY, namely backward and forward linkages in the processed food industry and integrated cold chain and value addition infrastructure.
PMKSY, launched in August 2017, was aimed at the creation of infrastructure and capacities of processing and preservation in the entire supply chain of the food processing sector, from the farm to the retail outlets, to integrate food processing units and food trade with the farmers.
It is an umbrella scheme incorporating ongoing schemes such as mega food parks, integrated cold chain and value addition infrastructure, food safety and quality assurance infrastructure, etc., as well as new ones like infrastructure for agro-processing clusters, the creation of backward and forward linkages, the creation and expansion of food processing and preservation capacities.
