Chandon, the made in India sparkling wine by Moët Hennessy, won the gold medal for Chandon Brut and the silver medal for Chandon Rosé at the 2019 essay of the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC), the most comprehensive and rigorous international sparkling wine competition in the world, which is held annually in the United Kingdom.

This year, the championship announced a record-breaking year with entries up by one-third, and a total of 185 gold and 212 silver medals awarded in this year’s competition to an incredible 18 countries.

This is another feather in the cap for the brand’s variants scoring big at the Decanter World Wine Awards, where Chandon Brut took home the silver medal and the Chandon Rosé landed the bronze medal.

The Decanter World Wine Awards were held in London at the start of May 2019, and nearly 16,500 wines from all over the world were judged by 280 judges from 30 countries, including 70 Masters of Wine and 23 Master Sommeliers.

Of the Indian sparkling wines chosen at these award platforms, Chandon is the only Indian wine brand to have won awards in each of the nominated categories and is the only sparkling wine brand from India to win gold in this competition.

The winning sparkling wines personify the signature Chandon style – crisp, fresh and fruity. Chandon Brut embodies the perfect combination between Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, while Chandon Rosé is a rich, smooth and harmonious assemblage of Shiraz grapes.

Launched in October 2013, Moët Hennessy India introduced Chandon Brut and Chandon Rosé, created from grapes grown in the Nashik region. Chandon is the first offering from the Moët Hennessy to be produced in India.

Speaking about the win, Stephane de Meurville, managing director,  Moët Hennessy India said, “We are extremely pleased to win at these prestigious international awards again in 2019. This honour is a gratification for our team’s commitment to create the best sparkling wine and share the signature Chandon style with wine-lovers across the world.”

Recognised as the world’s biggest, finest and most meticulously judged wine competitions, these three awards assess every wine blind and judge each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage.

These awards bring together the doyens of spirits and wine world on a unified platform to showcase their offerings amongst prestigious panel of the greatest wine experts, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers.
