The International Council of Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) has honoured Sanjay Sethi, managing director and chief executive officer, Chalet Hotels Limited, with the Best Professional – Hospitality title at the PATWA International Travel Awards.

The accolades, which have earned a reputation as one of the most coveted and sought-after awards of the travel trade over the last 18 years, honour professionals who make an invaluable contribution in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Sethi was selected by a jury comprising PATWA members, officials and mystery travelers, who judged the shortlisted names that met the necessary criteria. The nominees were evaluated on various pre-set standards with an extensive audit.

An IHM (Institute of Hotel Management) Pusa alumnus, he leads the hospitality business at Chalet Hotels Ltd, which he successfully listed on the Indian bourses in February 2019. He spearheads a strong portfolio of upscale and luxury hotels across key markets in India.

Sethi has, over his three-decade career, worked on some prominent brands like the Taj Group, and worn the entrepreneur’s hat with the Berggruen Hotels Ltd, building its brand of keys hotels and resorts.

Speaking on the award, he said, “I feel honoured to receive this award and thank the jury and the entire team at PATWA. This award validates the several initiatives and work done towards the progress of the Indian hospitality industry and encourages us to strive for more. I stand committed to making progressive transformation, together with my peers and the industry, to benefit the industry and society at large.”

Some other notable achievements of Sethi include being elected to the executive committee of the Hotel Association of India (HAI). He is also on the real estate committee of FICCI (the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), working with the team towards formulation of industry impacting policies.

He is also a special invitee to the executive committee of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI). In December 2019, he was conferred upon the prestigious Hall of Fame Award by Hotelier India.
