The Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI), a sector skill council for food processing, has announced the launch of its Learning Management System (LMS) under the name ‘FICSI Online Training and Assessment Academy’, with an aim to provide skilling in food processing sector through the channel of digital learning specially during the current situation.
Dilip Chenoy, secretary-general, FICCI, joined as the chief guest for the launch of the ‘FICSI Online Training and Assessment Academy’ via Webinar, in the presence of Dr C Vasudevappa, VC, NIFTEM, and Akshay Bector, president, FICSI and CMD, Cremica Food Industries Ltd, as the guests of honour.
It is a digital platform (web and android based) that has launched a self-paced course on ‘Safe Practices for Retailers and Retail Workers handling Food and Safe Practices for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises manufacturing food during Covid-19 pandemic'.
The courses will entail Food Safety Compliance Training to limit contamination risks. These courses are prepared in association with FSSAI, FICCI, NIFTEM and various industry partners. The duration of the course completion is 90 minutes, at the end of which a certificate will be issued to each participant.
Sunil Marwah, CEO, FICSI, highlighted the importance of giving a clear understanding to the workers of unorganised retail and manufacturing sector handling food. He says that following these guidelines can help in mitigating the risk of spreading Covid-19 and have consumer’s trust. “We emphasise on creating awareness through interactive learning because ‘Jaanega Bharat toh Safe Rahega Bharat’”.
The digital platform will also have NSQF aligned job roles for learners such as baking technician, pickle making technician and jam jelly ketchup processing technician. The aim is to ensure that the food processing industry can grow with skilled manpower, increased productivity, and profitability.
