Assocom-India to train persons with disabilities in bakery, hospitality

Assocom-India Pvt Ltd will train persons with disabilities (PwDs) in the bakery, hospitality and modern retail sectors at its state-of-the-art facilities in Greater Noida, the National Capital Region (NCR) and the centre in Delhi under the National Action Plan. It will be supported in its endeavour by the Department of Empowerment of People with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice, Government of India.
There are areas of workforce deployment in bakery and hospitality, where PwDs can be deployed successfully. These include:
- Production
- Persons with hearing and/or speech disability
- Packing of products
- Persons with active upper limbs
- Visually-impaired, in teams with persons of partial visibility
- Persons with hearing disability
- Laboratory and quality control
- Persons with lower limb disability
- Record keeping, computers
- Retail service counters
Assocom-India and the ministry endeavour to do the following:
- Develop a special need-based programme in coordination with the Sector Skill Council and international partners
- Develop special course material after assessing the requirements of perquisites and facilities
- Ensure employment of trained differently-abled in the respective area of their developed skill during training programmes
- Make available an incubator for use by the differently-abled who would like to start their enterprises and help them to open bakery shops at potential marketplaces, institutes or government offices and canteens, etc
