In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, many fraudulent messages are being circulated on social media and other communication networks related to the spread of Coronavirus through ice creams and other food items.

Bringing this to light, the IICMA (Indian Ice Cream Manufacturers Association), in a statement has clarified, “We would like to reassure and inform everyone that ice creams do not carry the virus. In fact, no food items can spread the disease. To avoid the spread of Coronavirus and to stay safe you need to wash your hands frequently and wear a mask if you are unwell.”

The IICMA has appealed, “We request everyone to join the fight against misinformation to ensure people have the facts about Coronavirus so that they can protect themselves.” It has also drawn attention to a UNICEF notice clarifying that ice cream is safe.
