Global Oreo Vault to safeguard its biscuits from the apocalypse

Our Bureau, Mumbai
NASA recently reported that Asteroid 2018VP1 will be passing earth on November 2 and there is a 0.41 per cent chance of it entering our atmosphere.

A few weeks ago, a tweet from twitter user @OliviaGordan came to the brands’ attention. She wrote, “So, apparently there’s an asteroid coming to Earth soon. I wonder who will save the Oreos?”

Though the asteroid has virtually no chance to threaten the future of the beloved cookie, the brand didn’t want to put it in jeopardy. Inspired by the Global Seed Vault, they created a Global Oreo Vault which is an asteroid-proof facility built in the permafrost of Svalbard, Norway, with only one purpose - to make sure the cookies live on for generations to come.

The concrete bunker will keep the cookies, powdered milk and the top-secret cookie recipe safely tucked away from the potential asteroid.
