Oilmeal exports in March 2017 increase by 42 per cent to 1,50,773 tons

The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India has compiled the data for the export of oilmeals for the month of March 2017, as well as for the financial year 2016-17 (i.e. April 2016 to March 2017). The export of oilmeals in March 2017 increased by 42 per cent and was reported to be 1,50,773 tons, compared to 1,06,122 tons in March 2016.
The total export of oilmeals between April 2016 and March 2017, in terms of quantity, is reported to be 1,865,757 tons compared to 1,529,115 tons during the same period of last year, i.e. up by 22 per cent. In terms of value, the total earning is Rs 3,178 crore, compared to Rs 2,600 crore in 2015-16 (also up by 22 per cent). They also provided revised export data for the month of February 2017 for deoiled rice bran and castorseed meal with updated data collected for export. Export of oilmeals - April 2016 to March 2017

South Korea, Vietnam and France: Major importers of oilmeals Oilmeal import by South Korea from India between April 2016 and March 2017 was reported at 543,235 tons. It consisted of 1,67,760 tons of rapeseed meal, 3,66,805 tons of castor meal and 8,670 tons of soybean meal. Vietnam imported 328,348 tons, consisting of 11,588 tons of rapeseed meal, 30,219 tons of soybean meal and 2,86,541 tons of rice bran extraction. France imported 2,23,920 tons, consisting of 2,19,513 tons of soybean meal and 4,407 tons of castor meal. Japan imported 1,92,575 tons, consisting of 1,84,809 tons of soybean meal, 4,423 tons of rapeseed meal and 3,343 tons of castor meal. Bangladesh imported 2,30,581 tons, consisting of 2,28,050 tons of soybean meal, 1,452 tons of rapeseed meal and 1,079 tons of deoiled rice bran. Port-wise export: April 2016 and March 2017 The export from Kandla is reported at 9,75,047 tons (52 per cent). Kolkata handled 3,12,076 tons (17 per cent), Mumbai, including JNPT, handled 2,49,870 tons (13 per cent), Mundra handled 1,21,375 tons (seven per cent) and other ports (including by road) handled 2,00,459 tons (11 per cent).
